Shri T.K. Ramachandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, led more than 400 officials and staff in taking the Swachhata Pledge, marking the official launch of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2024 Campaign. Running from September 17 to October 2, 2024, the campaign is part of a nationwide effort to promote cleanliness under the theme ‘Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskaar Swachhata.’
As part of this initiative, the Ministry and its associated organizations are carrying out a variety of activities aligned with the campaign’s three core pillars. These efforts involve officials, students, NGOs, and the public, highlighting the importance of cleanliness and environmental conservation.
A mass tree plantation drive has been launched to further the message of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” promoting environmental responsibility. Additional activities include eco-tourism initiatives, beach cleanups, dock and nearby area cleanups, street plays, competitions, and marathons, all aimed at spreading awareness about cleanliness.
Health and welfare camps for Safai Mitras have also been organized as part of the campaign, focusing on preventive healthcare and connecting workers with government welfare schemes. These efforts emphasize not only cleanliness but also the well-being of those who work tirelessly to maintain it.
