Three Indian Coast Guard (ICG) crew members are missing following an emergency landing of their helicopter while on a rescue mission in the Arabian Sea. On Monday night, the ICG dispatched an advanced light helicopter at 11 pm to evacuate a critically injured individual from the Motor Tanker Hari Leela, located approximately 45 kilometers off the coast of Gujarat’s Porbandar.
During the operation, the helicopter, carrying four crew members, was forced to make a hard emergency landing and subsequently ditched into the sea.
The Coast Guard has confirmed that one crew member has been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to find the remaining three. The wreckage of the aircraft has been located, and rescue operations involve four ships and two aircraft.
This incident follows recent Coast Guard involvement in flood relief efforts in Gujarat, where the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), state disaster response teams, the Indian Army, and the Indian Air Force successfully relocated over 17,000 individuals from areas severely impacted by flooding.
