The three-phase assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir concluded earlier this week, with much anticipation building as the region awaits the results on October 8. Many believe these votes will play a key role in rejecting the Union government’s 2019 decision to revoke J&K’s special status.
The National Conference (NC), expected to secure a significant portion of the vote, has already vowed to introduce a resolution condemning the abrogation of Article 370. However, despite the promising exit poll results released on October 5, internal political divisions within Kashmir and the BJP’s five-year-long restructuring efforts during direct rule may still influence the outcome.
