The Ministry of Ayush’s innovative program, Yoga Break at Workplace (Y-Break), has been honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for its exceptional performance on the iGOT Karmayogi Bharat Platform. The award was presented by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), to Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director of the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), during the Valedictory Ceremony of the National Learning Week – Karmayogi Saptah, held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Commending the efforts of the MDNIY, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Ayush, stated, “Fitness is vital for better workplace performance. The Ministry of Ayush is dedicated to promoting self-care through yoga. I congratulate Team Ayush and MDNIY for designing this impactful Y-Break program.”
The Y-Break course has emerged as the top-performing program on the iGOT platform, with an impressive 868,094 government officials completing it successfully. This milestone highlights the initiative’s significant contribution to promoting health and well-being among working professionals.
Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, emphasized, “Our focus is on creating practical yoga solutions, such as the Y-Break program, that seamlessly integrate into employees’ routines, helping them stay energized and productive throughout the day.”
The Y-Break protocol is a five-minute yoga routine carefully designed to help employees de-stress, refresh, and refocus during their workday. It includes simple yet effective yogic practices like Tadasana, Urdhva Hastottanasana, Prasarita Padottanasana, and Nadisodhana Pranayama. These exercises aim to enhance immunity, reduce stress, and improve mental and physical health, even for those with packed schedules.
A trial involving 717 participants from 35 government and private organizations revealed overwhelmingly positive feedback. Participants reported increased focus, reduced stress, and better immunity, demonstrating the program’s transformative benefits.
Recognizing the often-overlooked aspect of workplace health, the Ministry of Ayush developed the Y-Break protocol to bridge this gap. The program’s universal applicability caters to diverse sectors, from factory workers to educators. Practicing the routine twice a day for just five minutes can create a balanced integration of mind and body, boosting both productivity and workplace well-being.
This recognition underscores the Ministry of Ayush’s dedication to fostering holistic health and wellness across the workforce. Public and private organizations are encouraged to adopt this initiative, paving the way for healthier, happier, and more productive workplaces.
