A new mobile application, PMJVK Bhuvan, has been developed to improve the implementation and monitoring of projects under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK). The app enables geo-tagging of assets created under the scheme and captures project-specific details, including photographs at various stages of construction or completion.
The PMJVK, a centrally sponsored scheme, was originally launched as the Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP). It was restructured and rebranded as PMJVK in May 2018, covering 1,300 identified blocks, towns, and district headquarters across the country. From the financial year 2022-23, the scheme has been expanded to all districts, with a focus on locations where the minority population constitutes more than 25% within a 15-kilometer radius. The program has been approved for continuation until March 31, 2026.
To ensure effective implementation, the Ministry conducts regular review meetings with States, Union Territories, and Central Government Organizations (CGOs). These bodies are instructed to adhere to PMJVK guidelines, follow directives issued by the Ministry of Finance, and discontinue non-viable projects that have not yet started.
The PMJVK Bhuvan app serves as a crucial tool in tracking progress by geo-tagging assets and documenting key attributes of the projects. This will enhance transparency and accountability in the execution of the scheme.
The information was shared by Union Minister for Minority and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
