In a bid to celebrate and promote the cultural richness of Northeast India, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav on 6th December at around 3 PM at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The three-day festival, scheduled from 6th to 8th December, marks the first edition of this cultural extravaganza, which will spotlight the diverse cultural heritage of Northeast India. The event will bring together a wide range of traditional arts, crafts, and cultural practices from the region.
The Mahotsav aims to promote economic opportunities across various sectors, including traditional handicrafts, handlooms, agricultural products, and tourism. The festival will feature exhibitions by artisans, Grameen haats, state-specific pavilions, and technical sessions focusing on areas critical for the region’s development.
Noteworthy events will include an Investors Roundtable and buyer-seller meets, offering a unique platform to build partnerships and foster economic growth in Northeast India. Additionally, the Mahotsav will host a Design Conclave and Fashion Shows, which will showcase the region’s rich handloom and handicraft traditions on a national stage.
The festival will also celebrate Northeast India’s vibrant musical heritage and its indigenous cuisines, providing attendees with a rich cultural experience.
