On the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day (AFFD) on December 7, 2024, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh urged the public to contribute generously to the AFFD Fund, highlighting it as a collective responsibility to support the welfare of both serving and retired soldiers, along with their families.
In a video message on X, Shri Rajnath Singh emphasized that AFFD is a day to honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the Armed Forces. He praised their role as a formidable security shield, protecting India from external threats and providing assistance during natural disasters. He also reiterated the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure the welfare of ex-servicemen, war widows, and their families, underscoring that citizen contributions are crucial to supporting their needs.
The AFFD is observed annually to pay tribute to fallen soldiers and those serving on the borders. The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare works towards the rehabilitation of ex-servicemen and their families, providing financial aid for various needs, including medical and educational assistance.
Contributions to the Fund can be made via cheque, DD, or NEFT/RTGS to the designated accounts of Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, and ICICI Bank.
