Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, attended the commemoration of Veer Bal Diwas at Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara in Dibrugarh, paying heartfelt tribute to Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, the young sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh. The day is observed in their memory to honor their supreme sacrifice for faith and homeland.
Speaking at the event, Shri Sonowal described the bravery and martyrdom of the Sahibzadas as timeless examples of courage and patriotism. “Their sacrifice for the honor, pride, and security of their faith and motherland is a beacon of inspiration for generations. Veer Bal Diwas is not merely a day of remembrance but a living stream of inspiration for all,” he said.
A Tribute to the Young Martyrs
The Union Minister also paid homage to Mata Gujri and Shri Guru Gobind Singh, emphasizing that the Sahibzadas’ resilience and unwavering faith in the face of Mughal atrocities are lessons of justice and righteousness for the world. “At just 6 and 9 years of age, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh stood undeterred against a vast army, showcasing indomitable courage and sacrifice that will forever remain etched in India’s history,” he remarked.
He lauded the observance of Veer Bal Diwas as a significant step towards spreading awareness about their sacrifice and inspiring the youth to serve the nation with devotion. Shri Sonowal highlighted Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s visionary efforts in recognizing the contributions of the Sahibzadas and reviving India’s rich heritage.
Promoting Cultural Heritage
As part of the occasion, Shri Sonowal laid the foundation stone for a cultural center at Kacharibari Puberuan Sangha in Dibrugarh, funded by the MP Local Area Development Scheme. The center aims to become a vibrant hub for cultural and artistic endeavors in the region.
