Patna: The Bihar state cabinet on Friday approved ₹2,960 crore for 21 significant development schemes announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during his Pragati Yatra, which covered six districts in two phases. The funds will be used for land acquisition, infrastructure development, and improving connectivity across the state.
Key Allocations
1. Industrial Expansion:
₹1,001 crore allocated for acquiring 1,243 acres of private land in Vaishali district to expand the industrial area.
₹298 crore earmarked for acquiring 5,045 acres in Sitamarhi district, both acquisitions to be carried out by the Infrastructure Development Authority (IDA), Patna.
2. Infrastructure Strengthening:
₹351 crore approved for elevation, strengthening, and protection of the 72-km-long Saran embankment.
₹89 crore allocated for the widening and strengthening of the remaining 13km stretch of National Highway-19 in Saran district.
3. Support for Farmers:
₹70 crore sanctioned to provide an additional ₹10 per quintal to cane growers during the sugarcane crushing season, benefiting farmers across the state.
4. Road Restoration and Bridge Construction:
₹78 crore allocated for restoring and pitching the 93-km service road along the Don canal.
₹70 crore approved for constructing a reinforced concrete cement (RCC) bridge over the Burhi Gandak river near Ibrahimpur Ghat in East Champaran district.
5. Road Development Projects:
₹74 crore for widening and strengthening 9.7km of the Kanti-Raghai Ghat road in Muzaffarpur.
₹52 crore for improving 9.37km of the Sheohar-Meenapur-Kanti road in Muzaffarpur.
₹40 crore allocated for the 7.34km Khaira-Bintolia road in Saran.
₹41 crore for upgrading the 16km Chiraiya-Puranhiya road under PM Gram Sadak Yojana, including seven years of maintenance.
₹30 crore for developing the 14km Mansupur-Beruadih road.
6. Additional Approvals:
₹73 crore sanctioned for upgrading the 6km Patharighat to Barwat Sena road in West Champaran.
₹17 crore allocated for improving 20km of the Sheohar-Meenapur-Kanti road in Sheohar district.
These projects aim to boost industrial growth, enhance transportation, strengthen agricultural support, and improve disaster resilience in Bihar.
