Patna: To address the ongoing cold wave, the Patna district administration, under the guidance of District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh, has implemented several measures to aid the city’s vulnerable population.
Bonfires have been arranged at 82 designated locations across Patna to provide warmth during the harsh winter nights. Additionally, 29 night shelters have been established by the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), offering refuge to over 18,498 individuals. These shelters are equipped with essential amenities to ensure comfort and safety for those in need.
The administration has also distributed 6,646 blankets to the underprivileged as part of its relief efforts. DM Chandrashekhar Singh has directed officials to ensure comprehensive support, including proper medical facilities for children, women, and the elderly.
The public has been advised to adhere to the disaster management department’s cold wave advisory. Recommendations include wearing warm clothing, limiting outdoor activities during peak cold hours, and avoiding unnecessary travel.
Educational institutions have also been affected by the cold conditions. Schools up to Class VIII will remain closed until January 11, while classes for grades IX and above will operate between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM. The closure may be extended if the cold wave persists.
