To ensure safety during the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi, the police are implementing extensive security measures, including deploying over 15,000 personnel and 70 paramilitary companies. These arrangements were detailed by a senior Delhi Police official on January 24, 2025.
Multi-Layered Security
The city will be under multi-layered surveillance, featuring six levels of security checks and barricades. Advanced technology, including drones and CCTV cameras equipped with Facial Recognition Systems (FRS), will monitor sensitive areas. High-resolution cameras linked to criminal databases will assist in real-time identification of potential threats.
Rooftop Security and Cyber Surveillance
Approximately 4,000 rooftop security points have been identified in key districts, including New Delhi, North Delhi, and Central Delhi. Mobile units with FRS capabilities and cyber-specialist officers will oversee operations to ensure a smooth and secure event.
Enhanced Vigilance and Collaboration
Detailed route surveys and anti-sabotage drills have been conducted across the city. DCPs from various districts are closely coordinating with security agencies, and a special meeting was held with staff from hotels and malls to enhance preparedness.
Additional Measures
Attendees of the parade will receive security stickers, and special monitoring will be in place for high-footfall areas. The Defence Secretary has also announced that the parade will feature more cultural elements this year, further emphasizing the need for heightened security.
The Delhi Police emphasized their readiness to handle any situation, ensuring a safe and successful Republic Day celebration.
