Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, chaired a high-level review meeting in New Delhi to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting brought together key officials, including the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Intelligence Bureau, the Jammu and Kashmir administration, and top security personnel. The discussions focused on strengthening counter-terrorism measures and ensuring the continued improvement of security in the region.
During the meeting, Shri Amit Shah reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to eliminating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Home Minister made it clear that uprooting the existence of terrorists should be a priority, calling for a ruthless and proactive approach in dealing with infiltration and acts of terror.
One of the major concerns raised during the meeting was the link between terrorism and narcotics trade. Shri Amit Shah highlighted the urgent need to curb terror funding generated through drug trafficking, stressing that swift and rigorous action must be taken against these networks. He directed agencies to dismantle the financial channels supporting terrorism and take immediate steps to disrupt the narco network that facilitates infiltration and terror-related activities.
In addition to counter-terrorism measures, the Home Minister also reviewed the progress of implementing the country’s new criminal laws. He instructed officials to expedite appointments in Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL) to ensure timely and effective criminal investigations. His directives underscored the government’s focus on strengthening law enforcement capabilities in the region to support the broader goal of a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir.
Shri Amit Shah reiterated the Modi government’s “zero tolerance” policy against terrorism and called for continued synergy among security forces to ensure the complete eradication of terrorism from the Union Territory. He also acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of security agencies in achieving notable improvements in the overall security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
