Vice-President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar highlighted the remarkable transformation of India’s ‘Look East’ policy into the more action-oriented ‘Act East’ initiative, emphasizing the tremendous progress witnessed in the Northeast. Speaking at the First Ever Joint Mega Nyokum Yullo Celebration in Kamle District, Arunachal Pradesh, he pointed to the rapid expansion of airports, railway networks, roads, and 4G connectivity as clear indicators of development in the region.
He underscored Arunachal Pradesh’s immense potential in the energy sector, stating that the state has the capacity to generate 50,000 MW of power. Given that producing one megawatt requires an investment of ₹10 crore, this translates into an investment opportunity worth ₹5 lakh crore. Acknowledging the efforts of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, he noted how the minister successfully conveyed this vision to the Prime Minister, encouraging people to seize the opportunity while preserving their cultural heritage.
Reaffirming India’s growing strength on the global stage, the Vice-President expressed confidence in the country’s resilience and unity. He emphasized that no external force could threaten India’s sovereignty, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands among the most influential global leaders today. He also praised Arunachal Pradesh’s representation in national leadership, pointing out that Kiren Rijiju’s repeated inclusion in the Union Cabinet reflects the state’s growing significance in national affairs.
Celebrating the cultural richness of India, Shri Dhankhar drew parallels between Nyokum Yullo and other festivals like Holi, Baisakhi, Lohri, Bihu, and Pongal, highlighting how India’s diversity is united by shared traditions. He recalled his first visit to Arunachal Pradesh during the Statehood celebrations and expressed admiration for the state’s vibrant tribal heritage and deep-rooted sense of pride.
Commending Kiren Rijiju’s contributions, the Vice-President acknowledged his vision for the Frontier Highway and his relentless efforts to drive development in Arunachal Pradesh. He assured the people that these ambitious projects would become a reality, bringing lasting progress to the region.
