Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla today paid tribute to the remarkable life and contributions of Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, describing him as an extraordinary personality who has chosen to lead a life of simplicity and service. Speaking at the release of the book Parvat Shiromani Bhagat Singh Koshyari, authored by Shri Madan Mohan Sati at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA) in Delhi, Shri Birla emphasized that Shri Koshyari’s life and struggles serve as a guiding light for both the present and future generations.
In the presence of dignitaries including Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari himself, Shri Mohan Singh Bisht, Deputy Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary of IGNCA, and Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, Shri Birla reflected on Shri Koshyari’s unwavering commitment to the nation. He spoke of his multifaceted journey as a student, statesman, writer, and journalist, highlighting his lifelong dedication to uplifting the underprivileged and marginalized. Shri Birla recalled how Shri Koshyari, whether as a parliamentarian or the Chairperson of a Parliamentary Committee, always placed national service above all else, remaining steadfast in his principles.
The Speaker also reminisced about Shri Koshyari’s deep passion for the development of hilly regions, the conservation of forests, and the protection of natural resources. He admired his ability to remain humble and unattached to power, whether as Chief Minister, Governor, or Member of Parliament. Shri Birla remarked that Shri Koshyari embodies the true spirit of service, dedication, and integrity, adding that every interaction with him has been a source of renewed inspiration.
Expressing his hopes for the book, Shri Birla stated that Parvat Shiromani Bhagat Singh Koshyari would serve as a valuable guide for future generations, offering lessons on resilience, dedication, and selfless service. Just as Shri Koshyari’s life has inspired countless individuals, the book is expected to enlighten students, academicians, and those in public service. Concluding his address, Shri Birla expressed heartfelt gratitude to the author for documenting the remarkable journey of a leader whose legacy continues to inspire the nation.
