Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a significant post-budget webinar on agriculture and rural prosperity, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in implementing the Union Budget 2025-26 initiatives. The webinar, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, served as a crucial platform for policymakers, industry leaders, and agricultural stakeholders to discuss strategies for accelerating the execution of key budget announcements.
In his address, the Prime Minister highlighted that this budget, being the first full budget of his government’s third term, reflects both policy continuity and a renewed vision for a developed India. He acknowledged the valuable suggestions received from various stakeholders before the budget and underscored the crucial role they play in ensuring its effective implementation. The webinar featured in-depth discussions on ten key thematic areas, each focusing on different aspects of agricultural and rural development. These discussions covered vital initiatives such as the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, enhancements in credit access through the Kisan Credit Card, strategies for boosting rural resilience, self-sufficiency in pulses production, and comprehensive programs for vegetable and fruit cultivation. Other important topics included the National Mission on High-Yielding Seeds, measures to improve cotton productivity, the role of India Post in supporting the rural economy, harnessing fisheries resources, and strengthening the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
Senior government officials, industry experts, and representatives from Farmers’ Producer Organizations (FPOs) engaged in deliberations, presenting their recommendations to the Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and other dignitaries. The Minister commended the thorough discussions and emphasized that these insights would help in designing a clear roadmap for the swift and effective implementation of budgetary provisions. Recognizing agriculture as the backbone of India’s economy, he expressed confidence that these efforts would propel the country toward becoming a global leader in food production.
