Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Gujarat took a heartwarming turn as he spent time with rescued animals at Vantara, a sprawling wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center developed by Anant Ambani. The visit, part of his three-day tour in the state, highlighted the government’s and private sector’s efforts toward animal conservation and welfare.
Vantara, located within the Reliance Jamnagar refinery site, spans 3,000 acres and is home to around 2,000 species of animals, including an estimated 1.5 lakh rescued, endangered, and threatened creatures. The facility is a beacon of hope for wildlife in need, offering a safe space for animals that have suffered due to habitat loss, human conflict, or other challenges.
During his visit, the Prime Minister was seen interacting closely with the animals, feeding lion cubs, playing with an orangutan, and observing rare and endangered species like white lion cubs and clouded leopards. His genuine affection and curiosity for these creatures were evident, as he carefully engaged with them, showcasing his softer, compassionate side.
Beyond these interactions, Modi also explored the advanced veterinary hospital at Vantara, which boasts state-of-the-art medical facilities, including MRI and CT scan units, intensive care units, and specialized departments like cardiology, nephrology, endoscopy, dentistry, and wildlife anesthesia. The facility underscores a significant commitment to ensuring that rescued animals receive the best possible medical care.
The visit shone a light on the importance of wildlife conservation and the remarkable efforts being undertaken to protect India’s rich biodiversity. It was not just a political engagement but a moment that reinforced the bond between humans and nature, reminding everyone of the need to protect and nurture the creatures with whom we share this planet.
