The Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM-VIKAS) scheme, launched by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, aims to uplift six notified minority communities by integrating multiple initiatives into a single comprehensive program. By bringing together schemes such as Seekho Aur Kamao, Nai Manzil, Nai Roshni, USTTAD, and Hamari Dharohar, the initiative focuses on skill development, women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, education, and infrastructure enhancement.
A significant aspect of PM-VIKAS is its effort to facilitate credit linkages by connecting beneficiaries with loan programs offered by the National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC). This financial support is expected to empower individuals by enabling them to pursue skill-based employment and entrepreneurial ventures. The Ministry has received several proposals for projects under the scheme and is currently in the process of evaluating and finalizing them.
Collaboration with Central and State Governments plays a crucial role in the implementation of PM-VIKAS. The Ministry is actively engaging with government departments and agencies to invite proposals that align with the scheme’s objectives. In addition to formal partnerships, awareness campaigns are being conducted through platforms such as Hunar Haat and Lok Samvardhan Parv, along with outreach via print and social media, ensuring that more people can benefit from these opportunities.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to fostering economic empowerment and social inclusion among minority communities. By providing training, financial support, and educational opportunities, PM-VIKAS is paving the way for sustainable livelihoods and a more inclusive society.
