The Ministry of Women and Child Development will be celebrating the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada from April 8 to April 22, 2025, reaffirming its deep commitment to fighting malnutrition and promoting holistic nutrition across the country. With a compassionate approach and a focus on grassroots impact, this year’s Poshan Pakhwada will center around four key themes: the critical first 1000 days of life, popularization of the Poshan Tracker’s citizen module, community-based management of malnutrition (CMAM), and encouraging a healthy lifestyle to combat childhood obesity.
Launched under the broader vision of the Prime Minister’s flagship Poshan Abhiyaan, this initiative has continued to work tirelessly to improve the health and nutrition of pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and children under six years of age. The upcoming fortnight aims to deepen this impact by promoting stronger outreach, enhancing community engagement, and ensuring timely nutritional interventions at the ground level.
Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi, will be visiting Arunachal Pradesh during the first week of the Pakhwada to personally assess ongoing initiatives and lend support to local efforts aimed at safeguarding the health and wellbeing of women and children in the region. Her visit underlines the government’s intent to ensure no part of the country is left behind in the journey towards a healthier India.
On the inaugural day, Minister of State for WCD, Smt. Savitri Thakur, will address officials from 18 partner Ministries, officers from State WCD Departments, and Anganwadi workers from across all States and Union Territories through a national webcast. Her message will serve as a call for unity and commitment among all stakeholders working tirelessly to achieve the goals of the Poshan Abhiyaan.
This year’s Poshan Pakhwada is envisioned as a truly inclusive and outcome-driven campaign. With activities ranging from home visits to community outreach programs, identification camps, and nutrition education sessions at village, block, and district levels, it aims to spark a deeper understanding of nutrition, particularly among caregivers and families. Special emphasis will be placed on exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding practices, and raising awareness about using the Poshan Tracker to monitor and support children’s growth and well-being.
Since its launch, Poshan Abhiyaan has witnessed six successful editions of Poshan Pakhwada, all contributing to a groundswell of awareness and collective action. The initiative is also marked by its collaborative nature—partner Ministries such as Rural Development, Health and Family Welfare, Jal Shakti, Panchayati Raj, and Education all join hands to implement programs and organize events that reflect the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
Through sincere efforts, coordination across departments, and heartfelt community participation, Poshan Pakhwada 2025 aims to move closer to the dream of a Suposhit Bharat—a nourished and healthy India where every child gets the best start in life and every mother feels supported and empowered.
