In a heartfelt tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya will lead the ‘Jai Bhim Padyatra’ in Patna, Bihar, on April 13, 2025. This nationwide initiative, commemorating Ambedkar Jayanti, will see simultaneous padyatras across all major state capitals, bringing together thousands in a shared commitment to Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals of justice, equality, and fraternity.
The Patna march is expected to draw over 10,000 enthusiastic volunteers from the MY Bharat platform. Starting from the historic Gandhi Maidan, the route is designed to reflect the spirit of cultural richness and social unity. Participants will witness powerful street performances and live art focused on social reform, walk past tribute corners adorned with Ambedkar’s inspiring words, and take part in youth pledge points and musical-theatrical acts that echo his vision.
This initiative is deeply symbolic—it’s the first time India will see a synchronized tribute of this scale across state capitals, underscoring the timeless relevance of Babasaheb’s message. As part of the padyatra, volunteers will take part in a collective reading of the Preamble to the Constitution and engage in statue cleaning drives at Ambedkar memorials in every district. These acts, though symbolic, speak volumes about a renewed sense of civic duty and constitutional pride among the nation’s youth.
In Mumbai, the padyatra will be led by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Smt. Raksha Khadse, with equally strong participation from MY Bharat volunteers and the public. Ahead of the padyatras, districts across the country have been buzzing with preparations—students are engaging in essay competitions, debates, painting, and slogan-writing activities, each paying tribute to the transformative legacy of Dr. Ambedkar.
The ‘Jai Bhim Padyatra’ is the ninth in a series of 24 such marches planned to celebrate 75 years of the Indian Constitution. These marches are not just events—they are powerful movements meant to connect today’s youth with the foundational values of our democracy.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has invited all young citizens to join this movement by registering on the MY Bharat portal (www.mybharat.gov.in). In doing so, they become part of a proud march—for democracy, for dignity, and for a united future inspired by Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring dream of an equitable India.
