In a tragic accident, three Indian Army personnel lost their lives after their vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a 700-foot-deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred around 11:30 AM near Battery Chashma along National Highway 44, as the army truck—part of a convoy travelling from Jammu to Srinagar—veered off the mountainous road and fell into the gorge.
A joint rescue operation was swiftly launched by the Army, police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local volunteers. However, all three soldiers were declared dead at the scene.
The deceased have been identified as Sepoy Man Bahadur, Sepoy Amit Kumar, and Sepoy Sujeet Kumar. According to reports, the vehicle was destroyed in the crash.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which has once again highlighted the dangers of travel along the treacherous mountain stretches of the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
