47th Flight Test Course Graduates Honoured in Proud Ceremony at ASTE Bengaluru

RR Team, May 23, 2025May 23, 2025

In a heartening and proud moment for the Indian Air Force, the 47th Flight Test Course concluded on 23rd May 2025 with a valedictory ceremony held at the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) in Bengaluru. This emotionally significant occasion, known as the “Suranjan Das Dinner,” celebrated the achievements of a group of exceptionally dedicated officers who have now completed one of the most rigorous training programs in military aviation.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, was present as the Chief Guest and personally awarded the graduating officers with certificates and honours for outstanding performance. The 48-week Flight Test Course is a symbol of the Indian Air Force’s unwavering pursuit of excellence and forms the foundation of its capability to test and evaluate advanced aerial platforms and technologies. It is a path that demands not just technical brilliance but also resilience, courage, and a deep sense of duty.

In his address, Air Chief Marshal Singh expressed admiration for the dedication and spirit displayed by the officers. He spoke with warmth and pride about the vital role of test pilots and engineers in advancing the nation’s air power. Emphasizing the importance of self-reliance, he pointed to India’s focus on indigenous defence projects such as the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) and the LCA Mk-II, which represent the country’s aspiration to lead from within.

The ceremony also honoured individual excellence. Squadron Leader S Bhardwaj received the Suranjan Das Trophy for being the best all-round student test pilot, while Squadron Leader Ajay Tripathi was awarded the Chief of the Air Staff Trophy for his excellence in flight evaluation. Squadron Leader Subhrajyoti Paul earned the Maharaja Hanumanth Singh Sword for his overall performance as a flight test engineer, and Wing Commander Ashwini Singh received the Dunlop Trophy for his flight evaluation expertise. Major Kaustubh Kunte was recognised with the Kapil Bhargava Trophy for best performance in ground subjects.

Behind each award was a story of relentless hard work, long hours, and an unshakable commitment to the Indian Air Force’s values. These officers now carry forward the legacy of their predecessors, ready to contribute with honour to India’s aerospace advancements.

The evening was not only a celebration of success but also a reminder of the quiet courage and excellence that powers the Indian Air Force every day. As these officers move ahead in their careers, they carry with them not just trophies and certificates, but the trust of a nation and the responsibility to build a safer, stronger, and self-reliant India.
