6th Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament Concludes with Enthusiasm and Tribute in Chandigarh

The 6th edition of the Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament came to a spirited close on May 6, 2025, at the Raghbir Singh Bhola Hockey Stadium in Chandigarh. Graced by Air Marshal PK Ghosh, Air Officer-In-Charge, Administration, the closing ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of one of the most revered figures in Indian Air Force history.

Held from April 29 to May 6, the tournament witnessed participation from twelve teams, including Air Force teams and international squads from two foreign countries. The event was not just a celebration of the sport but also a reminder of the enduring passion that Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh DFC held for hockey. A true icon, he was admired not only for his military leadership but also for his unwavering love for the game.

 

The final match saw a thrilling face-off between Indian Railways and Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. After an intense game that ended in a draw, Indian Railways clinched victory in the tie-breaker with a 3-1 score. Atuldeep was named Man of the Match, while Amritpal Singh earned the Player of the Tournament title for his outstanding performance throughout the series.

 

In a vibrant award ceremony, the Chief Guest presented medals, trophies, and cash prizes—Rs 3 lakh for the winners and Rs 2 lakh for the runners-up. Adding to the emotional significance of the evening, several renowned international hockey players were also honoured for their contributions to the sport.

 

The tournament served not just as a competitive platform but as a touching homage to a man whose spirit continues to inspire generations in both defense and sports arenas.
