99% Grievance Disposal by Rural Development Dept

RR Team, November 5, 2025November 5, 2025

Focus on Good Governance and Efficiency

Under the guidance of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the Department of Rural Development (DoRD) has successfully completed the Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM 5.0) held from October 2 to October 31, 2025. The campaign emphasized resolving pending matters such as MP references, state government references, PMO communications, parliamentary assurances, and public grievances.

Remarkable Performance Across Key Areas

The campaign recorded exceptional results across multiple administrative indicators. The Department achieved 99% disposal of public grievances, reviewed 100% of both physical and electronic files, and completed all three targeted cleanliness campaigns.

Highlights of the Department’s performance include:

  • MP References: 90 of 93 resolved (96%)
  • State References: 100% achieved
  • PMO References: 100% achieved
  • Public Grievances: 1339 of 1346 resolved (99%)
  • Electronic Files Reviewed: 2176 of 2176 (100%)
  • Physical Files Reviewed: 4231 of 4231 (100%)

Although Parliament Assurances achieved 36% completion, the department remains committed to addressing the remaining items within the next quarter.

Cleaning, Record Weeding and Space Optimization

As part of the campaign’s cleanliness and efficiency drive, 1,123 physical files were weeded out and 502 electronic files closed. These actions freed up around 1,200 square feet of office space, helping declutter work areas and improve operational flow. The department also generated ₹1,13,874 through scrap and e-waste disposal  a tangible benefit from effective record management.

Outdoor cleanliness drives, conducted through voluntary “Shramdaan” by DoRD officials, underscored the department’s collective spirit of service and accountability.

Promoting Transparency and Accountability

To ensure real-time progress tracking, a dedicated team monitored daily performance and uploaded data to the SCDPM portal hosted by DARPG. This transparent approach enabled timely reporting and allowed for corrective actions where needed.

The campaign was also widely promoted across social media platforms to raise awareness about cleanliness and administrative efficiency. Posts and updates under the hashtag #SpecialCampaign5 reached a broad audience, inspiring similar initiatives across government departments.

Creating Clean and Citizen-Centric Workplaces

The Department’s achievements under SCDPM 5.0 reflect its broader mission of building clean, functional, and citizen-friendly office environments. By systematically addressing backlog issues, DoRD has reinforced its commitment to the principles of “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.”

Officials stated that the momentum gained through this campaign would continue, with periodic file reviews, ongoing cleanliness efforts, and prompt grievance redressal becoming a standard administrative practice.

Way Forward

The Department of Rural Development has set a benchmark for administrative diligence and participatory governance. The focus will now shift towards enhancing data-driven decision-making and digital workflows to sustain the campaign’s impact in the long term.
