Giriraj Singh Challenges Rahul Gandhi: Ask Your Grandmother About RSS
In a sharp retort to Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Giriraj Singh suggested that the Congress leader should consult his late grandmother, Indira Gandhi, if there’s any technology to communicate with the deceased, to learn about the role of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Singh’s comments followed Rahul Gandhi’s recent statement accusing the RSS of promoting a singular vision of India, in contrast to his party’s belief in India’s diverse and pluralistic identity. Gandhi made these remarks during his address to the Indian diaspora in the U.S.
Singh criticized Rahul Gandhi for his apparent ignorance of historical contexts, asserting, “If there were a way to communicate with the past, Rahul should ask his grandmother about the RSS’s role during her time, or refer to historical records.” He implied that Gandhi’s understanding of the RSS is superficial and that a person who criticizes India from abroad cannot truly grasp the organization’s essence.
Addressing Gandhi’s remarks made abroad, Singh claimed that Gandhi’s frequent criticisms of India while overseas aim to tarnish the country’s image. He emphasized that the RSS is deeply rooted in India’s culture and traditions.
In his U.S. address, Rahul Gandhi had stated, “The RSS believes India is one idea, whereas we see India as a multiplicity of ideas. We believe in inclusivity and the right for everyone to participate, irrespective of caste, language, religion, or tradition. This stance was highlighted in the recent elections when it became clear that the Prime Minister was attacking the Constitution of India.
Gandhi also mentioned that the fear of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has diminished among the Indian populace since the recent Lok Sabha elections.
