New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with US President Joe Biden ahead of the Quad Summit, in what was a warm and cordial interaction. President Biden welcomed PM Modi to his residence, where the leaders shared a hug before Biden led Modi inside, symbolizing the strong bond between the two nations.
“The partnership between the United States and India has never been stronger or more dynamic. Every time we meet, I’m amazed at how we continue to find new ways to collaborate. Today was no exception,” President Biden shared on X after their meeting.
PM Modi was accompanied by a high-level delegation including External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra. President Biden’s team included Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti.
During his three-day visit, PM Modi will also engage in bilateral talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, both of whom are in the US for the Quad Summit.
Hosted in President Biden’s hometown, Wilmington, the Quad Summit will unveil new initiatives aimed at enhancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. The dialogue also seeks to explore peaceful resolutions for conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. The Quad—comprised of the US, India, Australia, and Japan—advocates for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific, a stance that Beijing views as countering its influence.
Before departing for the summit, PM Modi expressed his anticipation of engaging with his counterparts, emphasizing the importance of the forum for promoting peace, progress, and prosperity in the region.
