Srinagar, Oct 01: The third and final phase of the General Elections for the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed significant voter engagement. As of 3 PM, a notable 56.01 percent voter turnout was recorded across all polling stations in 40 Assembly constituencies spread across seven districts, according to the Chief Electoral Officer of J&K.
District-wise polling percentages were as follows: Bandipora saw a turnout of 53.09 percent, Baramulla recorded 46.09 percent, Jammu 56.74 percent, Kathua 62.43 percent, Kupwara 52.98 percent, Samba 63.24 percent, and Udhampur registered the highest at 64.43 percent.
Voting commenced on Tuesday, covering 40 seats across these seven districts, including Jammu, the winter capital. More than 39.18 lakh eligible voters are expected to cast their votes, determining the political future of 415 candidates, including notable figures such as former deputy chief ministers Tara Chand and Muzaffar Baig.
