The J&K Assembly Election Results: Full List of Winners
Following the announcement of results indicating that the Congress-National Conference pre-poll alliance has crossed the majority threshold, jubilant members of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) celebrated in Srinagar on Tuesday.
According to the latest figures from the Election Commission of India, the JKNC has secured 28 seats and is leading in 13 others, while Congress has claimed three seats and is leading in three more. The BJP has won 17 seats and is ahead in 12 constituencies. Mehbooba Mufti’s Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (JKPDP) has emerged victorious in two seats and is leading in two additional constituencies.
Omar Abdullah, the vice president of the National Conference, won the Budgam assembly seat, defeating the PDP’s Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi by over 18,000 votes. He also claimed victory in Ganderbal with a margin of over 10,000 votes.
In 2014, Abdullah contested from two seats—Sonwar in Srinagar and Beerwah in Budgam—winning Beerwah. However, in the 2024 Parliamentary elections, he lost the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat to independent candidate Sheikh Abdul Rashid, who was in Tihar Jail on terror-funding charges at the time but has since been released on bail.

Abdullah remarked that the alliance is well-positioned to form a government and called on the BJP to refrain from using dirty tricks. His father, Farooq Abdullah, president of the National Conference, declared Omar as the next chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, affirming that the NC-Congress alliance is poised to govern. He also stated that the results reflect the people’s opposition to the abrogation of Article 370.
PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti congratulated the National Conference on their success, urging the Centre to heed the decisive verdict and ensure a smooth functioning government. Her daughter, Iltija Mehbooba Mufti, is trailing in the Bijbehara constituency with 17,127 votes, lagging by 5,067 votes behind the leader. Despite her campaign efforts, Iltija acknowledged her defeat and expressed gratitude for the support from the people.
Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference is leading in Bijbehara with 22,194 votes, maintaining a margin of 5,067 votes.
Meanwhile, Sajad Lone, president of the People’s Conference, is contesting from two seats and is leading by over 700 votes in Handwara but is trailing in Kupwara, according to the Election Commission data.
