A man named Hublikar appeared before the court today, expressing frustration over a ruling by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjan Gogoi, who is now retired. Hublikar claimed that Justice Gogoi unfairly interfered in a judgment related to his wrongful termination, making his life difficult. He insisted that the judgment in his favor had been overturned due to Gogoi’s involvement.
The court, however, showed no willingness to entertain his plea. The bench cautioned Hublikar against making allegations, saying, “We are going to impose costs. Don’t mention the judge’s name. There is no merit in your case.”
Hublikar, angered by this response, argued that it was an injustice and that he deserved justice before his death. Despite his emotional plea, the court stood firm and dismissed his petition.
As tensions escalated, Hublikar’s frustrations grew, prompting the court to call security. Justice Trivedi warned him, “Don’t force us to take action. If you say one more word, you will be removed.” Despite this, Hublikar continued to protest, questioning the court’s refusal to issue notice against the complainant in his case.
At this point, Senior Advocate Siddharth Luthra, who was present in the courtroom, tried to calm Hublikar, explaining that his case had already been dismissed. Unrelenting, Hublikar expressed his disbelief, asking Luthra how the court could dismiss his case.
Security was eventually called to escort Hublikar out of the courtroom. This was not Hublikar’s first conflict with the judiciary. Last month, he faced criticism from another bench of the Supreme Court when he filed a public interest litigation (PIL) naming Justice Gogoi as a respondent, a move Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had questioned.
Justice Gogoi, now a member of the Rajya Sabha, retired from the Supreme Court in November 2019.
