The Union government has appointed new secretaries for four key ministries, with changes taking place following the upcoming retirements of senior officials. Subrata Gupta, a 1990-batch IAS officer from the West Bengal cadre, has been named Secretary of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, replacing Anita Praveen, who is set to retire on November 30.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) announced these decisions on Saturday, including the appointment of seven senior bureaucrats to secretary-level positions. Tanmay Kumar, an IAS officer from the 1993 Rajasthan cadre, will assume the role of Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, taking over from Leena Nandan, who will retire on December 31.
Additionally, Umashankar, a 1993-batch IAS officer from the Haryana cadre, has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Vikram Dev Dutt, an IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre (1993 batch), will take on the role of Secretary in the Ministry of Coal.
