The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has issued a notification regarding an additional 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for Central Government employees and pensioners, effective from July 1, 2024. This approval by the Union Cabinet means that the DA/DR rate will rise from 50% to 53% of the basic pension or family pension, benefiting Central Government pensioners and family pensioners.
This adjustment applies to a range of beneficiaries:
1. Civilian Central Government pensioners, including those in Public Sector Units (PSUs) or autonomous bodies, where full pension restoration was previously issued following commutation periods, as per OM No. 4/34/2002-P&PW(D) Vol.II dated June 23, 2017.
2. Armed Forces pensioners and civilian pensioners paid from Defence Service Estimates.
3. All India Service pensioners and railway pensioners.
4. Pensioners currently receiving provisional pension.
The revised rates will ensure that eligible pensioners and family pensioners receive increased Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief in line with inflation adjustments, effective from July 1, 2024.
