District Magistrate S Rajlingam held a meeting at the Collectorate Auditorium to finalize plans for Ganga Mahotsav, taking place from November 12-14, and Dev Deepawali on November 15. During the meeting, he stressed the importance of arranging cleanliness, healthcare services, parking, and security at Assi Ghat, Rajghat, Rajendra Prasad Ghat, and Namo Ghat. Major cultural programs are set to be hosted at Assi Ghat, while dazzling laser and fire shows will light up Ganga Ghat.
The DM emphasized the importance of thorough cleaning and adequate lighting at the ghats, calling for maximum public participation to light diyas on Dev Deepawali. Alongside water police, the NDRF will ensure complete readiness, and ambulances will be stationed nearby. Lighting will be enhanced at surrounding buildings, bridges, and key intersections for safety and visibility.
To promote the event, branding will be displayed at the bus and railway stations, as well as the airport. Fire safety measures will be in place for the fireworks across from Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham on Dev Deepawali. The pontoon and police departments will manage security for the projection mapping and laser show planned at Chetsingh Ghat.
The meeting was attended by VDA VC Akshat Verma, CDO Himanshu Nagpal, ADM Alok Verma, ADM Protocol Prakash Chandra, and other officials, all committed to ensuring a safe, vibrant celebration for locals and visitors alike.
