On 13th November 2024, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Bihar to inaugurate, lay the foundation stone, and dedicate multiple development projects worth approximately ₹12,100 crore. These projects are aimed at boosting the state’s infrastructure, healthcare, connectivity, and clean energy sectors.
- AIIMS, Darbhanga: In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Darbhanga. With an investment of over ₹1,260 crore, this AIIMS will feature a super-specialty hospital, an AYUSH block, a medical college, a nursing college, residential facilities, and a night shelter. The AIIMS will provide advanced healthcare services to the people of Bihar and neighboring regions.
- Road and Rail Connectivity: A key focus of the visit will be on improving connectivity through several road and rail projects:
- National Highway Projects: The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth ₹5,070 crore. Notable projects include the four-lane Galgalia-Araria section of NH-327E and major bridges on NH-110 at Bandhuganj and NH-31. Additionally, eight new National Highway projects will be launched, including roads connecting Ramnagar to Rosera and sections of NH-131A and NH-333A.
- Rail Projects: The Prime Minister will dedicate railway projects worth over ₹1,740 crore, including the Sonenagar Bypass Railway Line and the conversion of the Jhanjharpur-Laukaha Bazar Rail section to broad gauge. He will also inaugurate the Darbhanga Bypass Railway Line and flag off new MEMU train services in the Jhanjharpur-Laukaha Bazar section to enhance regional connectivity.
- Clean Energy Initiatives: The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the development of a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in five major districts of Bihar — Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Sitamarhi, and Sheohar. This initiative, worth ₹4,020 crore, will provide clean energy options such as Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to households, as well as commercial and industrial sectors. Additionally, a new Bitumen manufacturing unit will be established at the Barauni Refinery, aimed at reducing reliance on imported bitumen.
- Jan Aushadhi Kendras: In a bid to improve access to affordable healthcare, the Prime Minister will dedicate 18 Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras at railway stations across India. These centres will offer generic medicines at low prices, making healthcare more accessible to millions of railway passengers.
This visit marks a significant step towards the transformation of Bihar’s infrastructure, healthcare, and clean energy sectors, bringing lasting benefits to the people of the state and the region.
