In a remarkable achievement, over 10 lakh senior citizens aged 70 and above have enrolled for the Ayushman Vay Vandana Card under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) within just three weeks of its launch. The card, introduced by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on October 29, 2024, offers free healthcare benefits to elderly citizens. Of the total enrolments, approximately 4 lakh beneficiaries are women.
Since the program’s inception, treatments worth over ₹9 crore have been authorized, providing significant relief to more than 4,800 senior citizens, including over 1,400 women. These treatments address critical health conditions such as coronary angioplasty, hip fractures or replacements, gallbladder removal, cataract surgeries, prostate resection, and stroke management.
The Ayushman Vay Vandana Card is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access for senior citizens, ensuring their well-being through comprehensive and timely medical interventions. The initiative continues to gain momentum, bringing quality healthcare within reach for the elderly across the nation.
