Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan Suraaj, has made a bold prediction about the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections in 2025. He is confident that his party will win, saying, Jan Suraaj will win in 2025. There is no doubt about it. Kishor, a seasoned political strategist, believes his deep understanding of the electorate will lead his party to victory.
However, Kishor also set realistic expectations, admitting that even if Jan Suraaj forms the government in 2025, it will take until 2029-30 for Bihar to become a middle-income state. He described Bihar as a failed state, struggling across all developmental fronts.
Drawing a comparison to war-torn Sudan, Kishor explained that in such states, people are not focused on issues like education for their children. Instead, they worry about survival—who to shoot and where to capture. He emphasized that this mentality is prevalent in Bihar too, and it’s a harsh reality that needs to be addressed.
Addressing the Bihari diaspora in the U.S., Kishor clarified he was not trying to scare anyone, but simply laying out the truth of Bihar’s situation. If elected, his top priority would be improving school education, funded by the revenue from lifting the state’s alcohol ban.
Kishor also pointed out that Bihar’s biggest challenge is the sense of hopelessness among its people. He said that when people feel hopeless, survival becomes their only concern, and nothing else matters.
He also urged the Bihari diaspora to get involved. “Start calling your friends and relatives to support and vote for Jan Suraaj, he said, noting that the diaspora has done little for Bihar’s development so far. I haven’t seen anything tangible on the ground, Kishor added bluntly.
Despite his confidence in the future, Jan Suraaj had a disappointing performance in the recent Bihar assembly by-polls. The party failed to win any seats and lost its deposits in all but one constituency, while the NDA swept the elections, winning all four seats.
