The 14th Asia-Oceania Meteorological Satellite Users’ Conference (AOMSUC-14) will take place from December 4-6, 2024, in New Delhi, India. Organized by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the conference will feature a variety of high-quality oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, and a training workshop. The primary focus will be on utilizing current satellite data for meteorological and climatological purposes.
The key objectives of the conference include:
- Highlighting the significance of satellite observations.
- Advancing the science of satellite remote sensing.
- Providing a platform for collaboration between satellite operators and users.
- Sharing updates on international space programs and future plans.
- Encouraging the development of new technologies in weather satellite sensing.
- Engaging young scientists in meteorology and satellite research.
The event is expected to attract around 150 participants from various countries, including national representatives.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Earth Sciences, will inaugurate the conference on December 4, 2024, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. Other dignitaries attending the event include:

The first AOMSUC was held in Beijing, China, in 2010, and since then, it has become an annual event hosted in various locations across the Asia-Oceania region. The conference has grown into a premier gathering for meteorologists, earth scientists, satellite operators, and students globally. The 14th edition promises to be a significant event for those involved in satellite applications for weather, climate, and environmental monitoring.
In addition, a two-day international training workshop will take place on December 2-3, 2024, at IMD, New Delhi, with 70 trainees from various countries, including India. Following the AOMSUC, an international coordination meeting for Regional Association (RA)-II and RA-V members will be held on December 7, 2024, also at IMD, New Delhi. These events are designed to promote international collaboration and capacity building in the use of satellite data for weather and climate forecasting.
