Farmers protesting for compensation and benefits under new agricultural laws caused major traffic disruptions on Monday, December 2, 2024, as they marched from Noida to Delhi. The Delhi-UP border, particularly the DND Flyway, witnessed significant traffic jams due to the protest.
The march, organized by the Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), began on Monday morning, with farmers demanding compensation in accordance with the new agricultural laws. In addition, security was ramped up along key routes, including the Chilla border, where police, RAF personnel, and riot control vehicles were deployed.
The protest is part of a larger movement, with farmer organizations like Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) planning similar marches towards Delhi in the coming days, with a major march scheduled for December 6.
Meanwhile, the Noida Police issued advisories, urging commuters to use alternative routes or the metro to avoid delays, as barricades were set up along the stretch leading to Delhi.
