Vivah Panchami 2024 Date: Everything You Need to Know

Vivah Panchami is a special and auspicious day in Hinduism. According to the Hindu calendar, this festival is celebrated on the 5th day of the Shukla Paksha in the Margashirsha month. This year, Vivah Panchami falls on 6th December 2024.

Why is Vivah Panchami Important? On this day, Lord Ram and Mata Sita’s marriage took place, which is why it is celebrated as their wedding anniversary. The day is marked by worshipping Lord Ram and Mata Sita.

Significance of Vivah Panchami Worshipping on Vivah Panchami is believed to bring the blessings of Lord Ram and Mata Sita, ensuring the fulfillment of wishes and a happy life. If you plan to worship on this day, here’s everything you need to know.

Vivah Panchami 2024 Tithi (Date and Time)

According to the Vedic Panchang, the Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month starts on 5 December 2024 at 12:49 PM and ends on 6 December 2024 at 12:07 PM. So, Vivah Panchami will be celebrated on 6 December.

Vivah Panchami 2024 Shubh Muhurat (Auspicious Time)

  • Char: 7:04 AM – 8:21 AM
  • Labh: 8:21 AM – 9:38 AM
  • Amrit: 9:38 AM – 10:55 AM
  • Shubh: 12:12 PM – 1:29 PM
  • Char: 4:02 PM – 5:09 PM

Vivah Panchami Puja Samagri (Materials for Worship)

To perform the Vivah Panchami Puja, prepare a plate with the following items:

  • Deep (Lamp)
  • Flowers
  • Incense sticks (Agarbatti)
  • Coconut
  • Roli, Mouli, and Sindoor
  • Supari (Betel nut)
  • Haldi (Turmeric)
  • Gangajal (Sacred water)
  • Kalava (Sacred thread)
  • Red Cloth
  • Cow Ghee
  • Camphor
  • Cotton
  • Akshat (Unbroken rice)
  • Batasha (Sugar candy)
  • Sweets and Fruits for Prasad
  • Ramcharitmanas

Vivah Panchami Puja Vidhi (Worship Method)

  1. Wake up early and offer water to the Sun.
  2. Take a vow for the fast.
  3. Purify the place with Gangajal.
  4. Place a yellow cloth on a wooden platform.
  5. Set up the idol or picture of Ram and Sita.
  6. Dress Lord Ram in yellow and Mata Sita in red clothes.
  7. Recite the marriage story from Bal Kand of Ramayan.
  8. Chant the mantra: “ॐ जानकीवल्लभाय नमः”.
  9. Tie a Kalava (sacred thread) between Lord Ram and Mata Sita.
  10. Offer Aarti, Prasad, and Bhog.
  11. Share the Prasad with everyone.

  1. सीता-रामचरितं शाश्वतं मंगलाय च।
    कृतं स्वीकुर्वतां प्रीतिं, दंपत्योः सदा भवेत्।
  2. ॐ आपदामप हर्तारम दातारं सर्व सम्पदाम,
    लोकाभिरामं श्री रामं भूयो भूयो नामाम्यहम।

  • For a Happy Married Life: Bathe Lord Vishnu and Mata Lakshmi with saffron milk.
  • Ram-Janaki Stuti and Vrat Katha (fasting story) should be read.
  • Donate Suhaag items (marital gifts) to married women after offering them to Mata Janaki.
