Maha Kumbh 2025: Comprehensive Security Measures in Place for Devotees

RR Team, December 28, 2024

Prayagraj is gearing up to host millions of devotees for the Maha Kumbh 2025, with a robust multi-layered security plan directed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Prayagraj Police, in collaboration with the Kumbh Mela Police and central agencies, has launched extensive security operations to ensure a safe and smooth religious pilgrimage.

Security Initiatives

To provide foolproof security, the authorities have initiated multiple drives under codenames such as Operation Pehchan, Sweep, Interceptor, Chakravyuh, Motor Vehicle, Seal, Sangam Ghat, Box, Virat, Mahavir, and Clean. These operations target everything from verifying individuals and vehicles to securing key areas around the mela site.

Key Actions Taken

  • Operation Pehchan: Focuses on verifying the credentials of taxi, e-rickshaw, and tempo drivers, as well as tenants residing near the Kumbh area.
  • Operation Sweep: Aims to crack down on troublemakers, mafias, and history-sheeters.
  • Operation Interceptor and Chakravyuh: Conducts checks at city entry and exit points to identify suspicious vehicles and individuals.

Week-Long Operations

DCP (City) Abhishek Bharti stated that several operations are being executed in phases:

  • Thursday: Operations Pehchan and Sweep.
  • Friday: Operations Interceptor and Chakravyuh.
  • Saturday: Launch of Motor Vehicle and Seal operations.
  • Sunday: Sangam Ghat and Box operations to monitor key locations and pandals around the Sangam area.
  • December 30: Under Operation Virat, all pandals in the mela campus will be thoroughly inspected.
  • December 31: Operation Mahavir will focus on major temples and prominent religious spots across the city.

CM’s Directives

During his visit to Tent City, CM Yogi Adityanath emphasized the importance of comprehensive verification of drivers and tenants. He also stressed seamless coordination between the police and central agencies to address potential threats.

Ensuring Safety

The police have already verified the credentials of around 5,000 individuals, including drivers and local tenants, and deployed intelligence teams to gather real-time information. These measures aim to provide a secure environment for the millions expected to attend the mela, with the security drives continuing until its conclusion.

Prayagraj’s robust security framework underscores the commitment to safeguarding this grand religious event while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere for all devotees.
