PM to Inaugurate and Lay Foundation Stones for Key Railway Projects on January 6

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several significant railway projects on January 6 at 12:30 PM via video conferencing. These projects aim to enhance regional connectivity, boost infrastructure development, and support socio-economic growth across multiple states.

Key Highlights of the Projects

1. Inauguration of the New Jammu Railway Division

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the New Jammu Railway Division, which encompasses 742.1 kilometers of railway network. Key sections under this division include:

Pathankot – Jammu – Udhampur – Srinagar – Baramulla

Bhogpur Sirwal – Pathankot

Batala – Pathankot

Pathankot to Joginder Nagar

This long-awaited development is expected to significantly benefit Jammu and Kashmir and the surrounding regions by:

Improving connectivity with other parts of India.

Boosting infrastructure development and creating employment opportunities.

Promoting tourism and contributing to the region’s overall socio-economic progress.

2. Inauguration of Charlapalli New Terminal Station, Telangana

The Charlapalli New Terminal Station, located in Medchal-Malkajgiri District of Telangana, has been developed as a new coaching terminal with a budget of approximately ₹413 crore. Key features include:

A second entry to facilitate better passenger movement.

State-of-the-art, eco-friendly infrastructure.

Enhanced amenities to reduce congestion at existing terminals such as Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda.

This terminal will ease passenger flow, improve travel experience, and bolster urban connectivity in the region.

3. Foundation Stone for Rayagada Railway Division Building, Odisha

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building under the East Coast Railway. This initiative aims to:

Improve rail connectivity across Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and nearby regions.

Facilitate infrastructure growth and enhance regional accessibility.

Promote socio-economic development in the area.

The inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremonies underscore the government’s commitment to improving India’s railway infrastructure.
