Jerusalem, January 15, 2025: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office has dismissed reports claiming that Hamas has accepted a ceasefire proposal mediated by Qatar. This clarification came shortly after an Israeli official suggested that the Palestinian militant group had given its approval to the proposed agreement.
Earlier, Israeli media had speculated that the deal, reportedly endorsed by Hamas, would be officially announced on January 16 and implemented by January 19. The arrangement was said to include the release of the first group of hostages taken by Hamas during the October 7, 2023 attacks.
The denial comes amid heightened tensions and widespread calls for a resolution to the hostage crisis. On January 14, 2025, families and supporters of those abducted during the attack gathered in Jerusalem, urging the government to secure the safe return of all captives.
The situation remains fluid, with international mediators continuing their efforts to negotiate a potential truce.
