Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, held a comprehensive review meeting in Bengaluru during his two-day visit to Karnataka. The meeting brought together Karnataka’s Agriculture, Rural Development, and Revenue Ministers to discuss state initiatives, central schemes, and ongoing development projects.
Key Announcements
- Additional Housing Sanctions
Shri Chouhan announced the sanctioning of 4,76,556 additional houses for Karnataka under central housing schemes. This increase brings the total housing target for the state to 7,02,731 houses for the financial year. - Watershed Scheme Funding
An additional ₹97 crore was released under the Watershed Scheme to support water conservation and land development projects. - Mechanization Scheme Approval
Responding to the state Agriculture Minister’s request, Shri Chouhan confirmed additional funding under the Mechanization Scheme. - ATMA Scheme Staffing
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare will address staffing needs for the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Scheme, ensuring better implementation of agricultural projects.
Vision for Karnataka’s Development
During the meeting, Shri Chouhan emphasized the collaborative effort required to accelerate Karnataka’s progress. He remarked, “India’s federal democracy thrives on partnership, not blame politics. A developed Karnataka is essential for achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.”
He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to providing every poor family with a permanent home, calling it a “sacred duty.” The Minister urged the Karnataka government to expedite the construction of sanctioned houses, ensuring no family is left without a roof over their heads.
Focus on Effective Fund Utilization
Shri Chouhan encouraged the state government to promptly utilize previously allocated funds and submit utilization certificates to ensure uninterrupted central support. He assured the ministers that proposals submitted during the meeting would be carefully evaluated.
