The Republic Day Parade 2025, to be held on January 26, 2025, at Kartavya Path, New Delhi, promises to be a grand celebration of India’s cultural richness, military strength, and the 75th anniversary of the enactment of the Indian Constitution. This year, the event will highlight Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation) and welcome Indonesian President Mr. Prabowo Subianto as the Chief Guest.
Highlights of the Parade
1. Cultural and Military Display:
300 cultural artists from across India will herald the parade by performing on traditional musical instruments, including shehnai, nadaswaram, and dhol.
A 350-member Indonesian contingent, comprising a 160-member marching unit and a 190-member band, will join the Indian Armed Forces, marking a symbol of India-Indonesia friendship.
31 tableaux from various states, union territories, and central ministries will depict the theme, “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas”.
Special tableaux will focus on the 75 years of the Constitution and historical events like the birth anniversaries of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
2. Prime Minister’s Tribute:
The day will begin with Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.
3. Grand Finale:
The event will conclude with a spectacular flypast by 47 aircraft, and balloons carrying banners commemorating the Constitution’s 75th anniversary will be released.
Infrastructure and Citizen Convenience
Free Metro Rides: Ticket holders and invitees can avail free Delhi Metro rides starting at 4 AM on January 26, 2025.
Park-and-Ride Scheme: Special shuttle services will operate from parking hubs like Palika Parking and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to Kartavya Path.
Divyang-Friendly Facilities: Ramps, wheelchairs, and youth volunteers from NCC will assist differently-abled visitors.
Enhanced Sanitation and Health Services: The number of toilet facilities has been doubled, and first aid booths will be set up at entry points.
Special Activities for Jan Bhagidari
The government has invited 10,000 special guests from 34 categories, including:
Sarpanches from high-performing villages.
Disaster relief workers, self-help group members, and handloom artisans.
Winners of schemes like PM KISAN, PM Surya Ghar Yojana, and PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
Delhi-based couples representing each state and union territory in traditional attire will also witness the parade, symbolizing India’s unity in diversity.
Educational and Cultural Initiatives
1. Competitions and Contests:
Essay writing, painting, and quizzes on themes like 75 years of the Indian Constitution and India’s cultural heritage were conducted through MyGov and All India Radio.
2. Veer Gatha 4.0:
Around 1.76 crore students participated in this initiative to honor India’s armed forces. 100 winners will be felicitated and attend the parade.
3. Cultural Performances:
Over 5,000 artists will perform a special 11-minute act showcasing 45 traditional dance forms along the entire Kartavya Path.
Beating Retreat and Bharat Parv
The celebrations will conclude on January 29 with the Beating Retreat Ceremony, where only Indian tunes will be played. Additionally, Bharat Parv at Red Fort from January 26–31 will feature Republic Day tableaux, military band performances, cultural programs, food courts, and a crafts bazaar.
