On the eve of Republic Day 2025, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment hosted a special program to honor 400 students selected under the PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (YASASVI). These students, hailing from 21 states across the country, represent communities from OBC, EBC, and DNT groups. They have been invited as special guests to witness the Republic Day Parade 2025 in New Delhi.
The event was held at the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial (DANM) and featured an address by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar. He lauded the PM YASASVI Scheme as a transformative initiative aimed at achieving social justice and inclusivity.
Empowering Students for a Brighter Future
Dr. Kumar highlighted the scheme’s role in empowering marginalized students educationally, socially, and economically, stating:
“Nothing can stop talent from progressing. The youth of our country are talented, energetic, and globally recognized. This initiative is a testament to the Government’s unwavering commitment to ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ ensuring no one is left behind regardless of caste or religion.”
The Minister also praised the dedication and achievements of the student beneficiaries, encouraging them to utilize the opportunities provided to excel and contribute to the nation’s progress.
Highlights of the PM YASASVI Scheme
The PM YASASVI Scheme aims to uplift students from OBC, EBC, and DNT communities by providing:
- Pre-Matric Scholarship: ₹1.25 lakh per annum for students in classes 9 to 12.
- Post-Matric Scholarship: Financial assistance amounting to ₹12.75 crore for higher education.
- Top-Class Education: Support for accessing quality school and college education.
- Hostel Construction for OBC Students: Enhanced residential facilities for students pursuing education away from home.
A Celebration of Talent and Inclusivity
The program underscored the Government’s commitment to nurturing the potential of young achievers from underrepresented communities. Dr. Kumar expressed pride in the students’ selection as special guests for the Republic Day celebrations, marking their success as a reflection of India’s inclusive development vision.
The event also saw participation from senior officials, including Shri Amit Yadav, Secretary (Department of Social Justice and Empowerment), and Shri Amit Kumar Ghosh, Additional Secretary, along with other dignitaries and staff.
