Lok Sabha Elections 2023: Shock to BJP, separate seats
Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP suffered a major setback. In the 2023 assembly elections, the party faced defeat in several states, including Karnataka, Telangana and Maharashtra. These defeats are raising questions about the party’s popularity and organizational capabilities. All the parties have started preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BJP and opposition India alliance are holding meetings to chalk out a strategy to woo the people before these elections.
Defeat in Karnataka:
In Karnataka, BJP faced defeat from Congress. The party got only 40 seats, while the Congress got 123 seats. The biggest reason for this defeat is believed to be that the BJP government was facing allegations of corruption.
Defeat in Telangana:
In Telangana, the BJP faced defeat from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). The party got only 2 seats, while TRS got 88 seats. The biggest reason for this defeat is believed to be that the BJP party leadership was not able to pay attention to local issues.
Defeat in Maharashtra:
In Maharashtra, BJP had to fight the elections in alliance with Shiv Sena and NCP. However, the alliance faced defeat from the Congress and NCP-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). The party won 105 seats, while the MVA won 150 seats. The biggest reason for this defeat is believed to be the differences between BJP and Shiv Sena.
survey results:
Recently, a survey conducted by C Voter for ABP News has revealed that if the Prime Minister is directly elected, 52% people will choose Narendra Modi. In second place is Rahul Gandhi, who was liked by 27% people.
Interpretation of survey results:
It is clear from the survey results that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is still one of the most popular leaders in the country. Under his leadership, BJP won the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Congress party has got some relief by getting Rahul Gandhi in second place. However, they are still said to be far behind the BJP.
Challenge for the opposition: It is also clear from the survey results that the challenge for the opposition in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be huge. They will need to prepare a strong candidate and an effective election strategy to challenge Narendra Modi’s popularity.
