As millions of devotees gather in Prayagraj for the sacred Mahakumbh 2025, the Union Government has launched a special scheme to ensure that quality ration is available at affordable prices. Through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED), essential food items such as wheat flour, pulses, and rice are being distributed at subsidized rates. This initiative not only provides relief to the countless pilgrims but also ensures that no devotee faces any food shortages during this massive spiritual congregation.
To make ration distribution seamless and accessible, the government has deployed 20 mobile vans across the Mahakumbh city and Prayagraj. These vans are delivering food supplies directly to ashrams and devotees, ensuring that saints, kalpavasis, and visitors receive their rations without any difficulty. In a bid to enhance convenience, devotees can also place orders for rations via WhatsApp or phone calls on the number 72757 81810. As soon as an order is received, mobile vans promptly deliver the requested supplies to the designated locations.
Rohit Jain, the state head of NAFED, highlighted that the Ministry of Cooperation is overseeing this special initiative to guarantee that all attendees have access to essential food items. Deepak Agrawal, MD of NAFED, is personally monitoring the entire operation to ensure timely and efficient distribution. The focus is on maintaining both quality and affordability, allowing devotees to participate in the spiritual event without worrying about basic necessities.
The scale of this initiative is immense. So far, over 1000 metric tons of ration have been distributed, including 700 metric tons of wheat flour, 350 metric tons of pulses (moong, masoor, and chana dal), and 10 metric tons of rice. The ‘Bharat Brand’ grains and other NAFED products are gaining immense popularity among devotees, further reinforcing confidence in this effort. The packaging has been designed to suit the needs of the attendees, with wheat flour and rice available in 10 kg packets, while pulses are being provided in 1 kg packets.
This scheme is more than just a logistical effort; it is a testament to the government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of devotees attending the Mahakumbh. With millions gathering for one of the largest religious events in the world, the availability of quality food at affordable prices is a crucial factor in making the experience smooth and memorable. The introduction of mobile vans and on-call ration orders has added a layer of efficiency and accessibility, reflecting the thoughtfulness behind the initiative.
For many, Mahakumbh is not just a religious gathering but a period of deep spiritual reflection and devotion. Ensuring that such a large congregation is well-fed and cared for is a responsibility of great significance. This special scheme not only supports the logistical needs of the event but also upholds the spirit of service and inclusivity that Mahakumbh embodies. Through thoughtful planning and efficient execution, this initiative is playing a vital role in making Mahakumbh 2025 a truly fulfilling experience for all who participate.
