Purple Fest 2025 at Rashtrapati Bhavan Celebrates Inclusivity with 23,500 Attendees

RR Team, March 21, 2025March 21, 2025

The Rashtrapati Bhavan came alive with vibrant energy as it hosted Purple Fest 2025, a landmark event dedicated to celebrating inclusivity and empowerment. Organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DePwD) under the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the festival witnessed an overwhelming participation of 23,500 attendees at Amrit Udyan. The gathering was a powerful testament to the strength, resilience, and talent of Divyangjan, as well as society’s growing commitment to fostering an inclusive future.

The festival was a tapestry of cultural performances, literary sessions, corporate initiatives, and adaptive sports, all working toward the shared goal of greater accessibility and empowerment. President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, graced the occasion and watched spellbinding performances by Divyang artists, reflecting their extraordinary potential and spirit. Also present were Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, and Minister of State, Sh. B.L. Verma, who reaffirmed the government’s dedication to social justice and equal opportunities.

A significant highlight of the event was the announcement of corporate and social impact initiatives by Dr. Virendra Kumar, signaling a new era of opportunities for Persons with Disabilities. The festival facilitated crucial partnerships with organizations like Tata Power, American India Foundation (AIF), Hans India, and Tech Mahindra Foundation. These collaborations will play a pivotal role in creating sustainable avenues for education, skilling, employment, and overall accessibility for Divyangjan. Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the event, cementing long-term commitments to economic empowerment and inclusive growth.

The festival’s dynamic programming engaged attendees across various domains. The Literary Zone hosted ‘Meet the Director’ and ‘Author Sessions,’ where renowned storytellers and filmmakers shared their journeys and insights. Adaptive sports, including Blind Cricket, Boccia, and Wheelchair Basketball, showcased the remarkable prowess of Divyang athletes, emphasizing the need for more such platforms to celebrate their skills.

Purple Fest 2025 was more than just an event—it was a movement toward a society that recognizes and uplifts every individual, regardless of physical ability. As the festival concluded, it left behind not just memories of celebration but a renewed sense of purpose in creating a truly inclusive and empowered nation.
