PM Modi to Visit Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh on March 30, Launch Development Projects Worth ₹33,700 Crore

RR Team, March 28, 2025March 28, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh on March 30 to take part in a series of spiritual, social, and developmental initiatives aimed at enhancing infrastructure and improving the lives of people in the region. His visit will begin in Nagpur, Maharashtra, where he will offer prayers and pay tribute to the nation’s leaders, followed by the launch of significant projects in healthcare and defence. Later in the day, the Prime Minister will travel to Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones of multiple development projects worth over ₹33,700 crore.

The Prime Minister’s day will begin in Nagpur, where he will offer Darshan at the historic Smruti Mandir, coinciding with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Pratipada program that marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year. He will also visit Deekshabhoomi, a place of immense significance where Dr. B.R. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism in 1956 along with thousands of his followers. Paying homage at these sites reflects the Prime Minister’s deep respect for India’s social reformers and spiritual leaders.

Continuing his engagements in Nagpur, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre. This upcoming state-of-the-art eye care facility, which will include a 250-bed hospital, 14 outpatient departments, and 14 modular operation theatres, is expected to bring affordable, world-class ophthalmic care to the people of Maharashtra and nearby regions. The new centre will serve as an extension of the Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute & Research Centre, founded in memory of Guruji Shri Madhavrao Sadashivrao Golwalkar.

Later in the morning, the Prime Minister will inaugurate an important defence infrastructure project at Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited in Nagpur. The project includes a dedicated testing range for loitering munitions and a new runway facility for Unarmed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), further strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing and innovation.

In the afternoon, Prime Minister Modi will proceed to Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, where he will undertake a series of large-scale developmental initiatives across various sectors including power, oil and gas, transport, education, and housing. These projects, valued at over ₹33,700 crore, are aimed at strengthening the state’s infrastructure, generating employment, and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

One of the key focus areas of the visit will be the power sector. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of NTPC’s Sipat Super Thermal Power Project Stage-III, a ₹9,790 crore project designed with the latest Ultra-Supercritical Technology to ensure efficient and sustainable power generation. He will also initiate work on Chhattisgarh’s first Super Critical Thermal Power Project by CSPGCL, worth over ₹15,800 crore, and dedicate three significant power transmission projects under the Western Region Expansion Scheme.

Furthering the goal of cleaner energy solutions, the Prime Minister will also launch the City Gas Distribution project of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited in four districts of Chhattisgarh and lay the foundation stone for the Visakh-Raipur multi product pipeline project by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, ensuring safer and cleaner fuel supply in the region.

The Prime Minister’s visit will also mark a big boost to connectivity in Chhattisgarh. He will lay the foundation stone of seven new railway projects and dedicate three others, which together span over 219 km and are worth over ₹2,690 crore. He will also flag off a new MEMU train service in the Abhanpur-Raipur section and dedicate the complete electrification of Chhattisgarh’s railway network, paving the way for faster, safer, and greener rail connectivity. In addition, he will dedicate and lay foundation stones for key highway projects worth ₹1,270 crore to improve road infrastructure, particularly in tribal and industrial regions.

In the field of education, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate 130 PM SHRI Schools spread across 29 districts of Chhattisgarh. These modern schools will provide quality education with upgraded infrastructure, modern laboratories, smart classrooms, and libraries. He will also inaugurate the Vidya Samiksha Kendra in Raipur, a digital initiative that will enable better monitoring and evaluation of education schemes in the state.

Fulfilling his promise of ensuring ‘Housing for All’, the Prime Minister will participate in a Griha Pravesh ceremony for three lakh beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin in Chhattisgarh. As part of this event, he will symbolically hand over the keys of new homes to some of the beneficiaries, bringing hope and stability to countless rural families who now have a roof over their heads.

The Prime Minister’s visit reflects a strong focus on inclusive development, regional growth, and social upliftment. Each of these initiatives is aimed at bringing tangible change in the lives of people, particularly in rural and underdeveloped regions of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. His day-long journey will not only strengthen infrastructure and connectivity but also reaffirm the government’s commitment to improving healthcare, education, housing, and employment opportunities across the country.
