Bihar Politics Heats Up After Nayab Saini’s Remark on Samrat Choudhary
A casual comment by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has sparked a political firestorm in Bihar. While speaking at a Gurgaon event honoring Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Saini said he hoped BJP leader and Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary would “unfurl the flag of victory” in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Though likely meant as a show of confidence, his words triggered unexpected reactions—especially from the Opposition in Bihar.
Opposition Seizes the Moment
Sharing the stage with key NDA leaders—like UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and MP Upendra Kushwaha—Saini’s remark caught attention quickly. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav wasted no time. He framed the comment as evidence of a power struggle inside the BJP and urged the JD(U) to seek clarity from its ally.
Tejashwi also took a swipe at Nitish Kumar, comparing the long-serving CM to an old vehicle in need of replacement.
BJP Responds Swiftly
The BJP jumped into damage control. Haryana BJP officials claimed the remark reflected alliance confidence, not an attempt to question leadership.
Sanjay Ahuja, the party’s media coordinator, stated, “The NDA will decide its leader collectively,” adding that winning the election remains the main focus.
Bihar BJP Reaffirms Nitish’s Role
In Bihar, the BJP leadership moved quickly to calm its allies. State party chief Dilip Jaiswal made it clear that Nitish Kumar remains the NDA’s CM face. His statement, issued after consultation with central leaders, aimed to silence any speculation.
Meanwhile, Samrat Choudhary distanced himself from the controversy. He publicly supported Nitish as the coalition’s leader.
JD(U) Chooses to Downplay
Though clearly uneasy, the JD(U) did not escalate the issue. Umesh Kushwaha, JD(U)’s state president, reminded reporters that Home Minister Amit Shah had already endorsed Nitish as the NDA’s CM candidate.
“What anyone else says is just their personal opinion,” he said—signaling that the party wanted to avoid further rifts.
Coalition Politics: A Delicate Balancing Act
This episode highlights how fragile political alliances can be. Even casual remarks can create confusion or hint at deeper tensions. As Bihar heads toward a high-stakes election, moments like these underline the importance of clear messaging and unity.
