At the seventh convocation ceremony of Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University held in Jaipur, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla delivered an inspiring address, celebrating the enduring legacy and evolving relevance of Sanskrit. He spoke with deep reverence about the language, emphasizing that Sanskrit is not just a classical tongue of ancient India, but a powerful medium of scientific inquiry and philosophical depth that continues to inspire intellectual pursuit around the world.
In his speech, Shri Birla underlined the growing global interest in India’s traditional knowledge systems, especially in areas like Yoga, Ayurveda, and Vedanta. As institutions worldwide engage with Sanskrit scholarship, he urged India’s youth to recognize the immense value of their cultural heritage and to take pride in preserving and promoting it. He called upon students to become ambassadors of Sanskrit and to share its timeless wisdom with the world.
Shri Birla also praised the university’s forward-thinking efforts, including the scientific teaching of yoga, the digitization of ancient manuscripts, and the integration of Sanskrit studies with online learning platforms. He noted that such initiatives bridge the gap between tradition and modernity, making ancient knowledge accessible to a global audience.
Reflecting on the university’s origins, Shri Birla recalled the visionary leadership of the late Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, under whose guidance and with the blessings of Param Pujya Narayandas Ji Maharaj, the institution came into being. He encouraged the graduating scholars to carry forward this legacy with pride and purpose.
The convocation ceremony was marked by moments of pride and celebration, as Shri Birla presented degrees and Gold Medals to outstanding scholars. A special honor was conferred upon Swami Avdheshanand Giri, who received the prestigious title of ‘Vidya Vachaspati’. The event, held at the Rajasthan International Center, was graced by dignitaries including Rajasthan Governor Shri Haribhau Bagade and Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Shri Madan Dilawar, making it a memorable day dedicated to knowledge, tradition, and the promise of a brighter future through Sanskrit.
