“Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia Launches ‘Gyan Post’ to Make Education Materials More Accessible Across India”

RR Team, April 28, 2025April 29, 2025

Hon’ble Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Regions, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, today announced the publication of the gazette notification for ‘Gyan Post,’ a pioneering service aimed at making the delivery of educational, social, cultural, and religious books more affordable across India. This initiative underscores India Post’s ongoing commitment to advancing education and ensuring that learning materials reach even the most remote areas of the country.

With education being a cornerstone for a brighter future, Shri Scindia emphasized the need for equal access to learning resources, regardless of geographical constraints or affordability. “Gyan Post” has been launched with the core belief that educational materials such as textbooks, study guides, and cultural books should be accessible to everyone, no matter where they live.

During his announcement, Shri Scindia remarked, “Under the new education policy and syllabus, ‘Gyan Post’ serves as a vital delivery mechanism for ensuring that education reaches every individual.” This service is designed not only to support the educational needs of the country but also to promote knowledge-sharing by making books and printed educational materials more affordable and accessible.

The ‘Gyan Post’ service allows individuals to send books and educational materials at highly affordable rates. Starting from ₹20 for packages weighing up to 300 grams, and a maximum of ₹100 for packages weighing up to 5 kilograms (taxes applicable), the service provides a cost-effective solution for sending learning materials across India. Books sent through ‘Gyan Post’ will be trackable and transported by surface mode to ensure a budget-friendly delivery process.

This service is available exclusively for non-commercial educational materials, with business-related publications and materials containing advertisements not being accepted. Each book must bear the name of the printer or publisher as per prescribed regulations.

The ‘Gyan Post’ service will be operational at all departmental post offices across India starting May 1, 2025, further strengthening India Post’s legacy of public service. By improving access to learning resources, this initiative aims to bridge the education gap and empower communities across the nation. For more details, individuals can visit their nearest post office or go online to www.indiapost.gov.in.

In the presence of Ms. Vandita Kaul, Secretary (Posts), and Shri Jitendra Gupta, Director General of Postal Services, Shri Scindia’s announcement marks a significant step towards ensuring that education, an essential tool for progress, reaches every corner of India.
